Who it's for

Experienced traders who understand target-only trading and watch their account.

§ 01 How it trades

The rules, in order

  1. Watches for three 5-minute bars packed into a tight range compared with recent volatility.
  2. Long when a green bar closes above that range; short when a red bar closes below it.
  3. Targets 60 points (about $300 per MES contract).
  4. Last entry at 3:50 PM ET. Any open trade is closed at 3:55 PM ET.

§ 02 Market context

What a coil looks like

Coil Breaker waits for three 5-minute bars packed into a tight range compared with recent volatility. That compression often comes before a larger move. A green bar closing above the coil goes long, and a red bar closing below goes short.

It has a single exit plan: a 60-point target, about $300 per MES contract, or the 3:55 PM ET close. It has no protective stop. That is the most important thing to understand before you run it.

When this setup struggles

  • The breakout reverses. With no stop, the loss keeps growing until the target or 3:55 PM ET.
  • A slow afternoon where the target never arrives and the trade is closed at the bell.
  • Running it on an account with a daily loss limit. A single trade can exceed it.

§ 03 Risk and settings

Risk rules

  • No stop loss. A trade exits only at the 60-point target or at 3:55 PM ET.
  • One position at a time, and it shares an MES lock with Night Owl so the two never stack.
  • No daily loss limit.

Before you turn it on

  • Load it on a 5-minute MES chart. MES only.
  • It shares an MES lock with Night Owl, so the two never stack on one account.
  • There is no daily loss limit and no stop. Watch the account while it trades.
  • Last entry is 3:50 PM ET. Any open trade is closed at 3:55 PM ET.

Settings like contracts are adjustable. This bot has no built-in daily loss limit.

§ 04 Questions

Coil Breaker: common questions

Does Coil Breaker use a stop loss?

No. A trade exits only at the 60-point target or at 3:55 PM ET. Only trade it with money you can afford to lose.

Which contract does it trade?

MES (micro S&P 500) only.

Can it run alongside Night Owl?

They share an MES lock, so they never hold MES positions at the same time on the same account.
